Supplies Needed to Get Started

* Ikebana scissors
* Minimum of  2 Kenzans (metal pin frog): 1 large (3 1/2 – 4 inches), 1 small (1 – 2 1/2 inches)
* One moribana container. (Low flat container. Also called a Suiban)
* One Nagiere container. (tall cylinder) – I recommend that beginners get the vase that has a small shelf about 2 inches down on the inside. Having this shelf will make arranging in these container types somewhat easier. Any help you can get with Negiere is well appreciated.

You can get all these materials at Soko hardware in Japantown in SF. Amazon sells these items – links to which are above. Double check to make sure the kenzans are made in Japan. Kenzans that sound cheap probably are of poor quality and may drive you crazy, because they are too light and will tip when trying to put in heavier material.
