New Zealand Flax – Camellia

Original Leaf – Shiny Side Up
Step 1. Flip the Leaf over and run a butter knife along the dull side.

Run a butter knife along the dull side
Step 2. Split the leaf in half, but not all the way down. There is a section of that flax leaf that is sort of like a stem. Stop the split when you get to that harder section.
Step 3 – Start folding. The Camellia NZ Flax has only 1 fold and it is pretty basic. That fold is repeated until you get the number of “petals” you want.
The fold is simple. You take one side of your leaf and fold it behind the one in front.

Take the left side of the leaf and fold behind the right side.

Take the Straight leaf and fold it behind the one you just made an “L” with. Now both folded leaves will have their dull side up.

Take the leaf that is currently on top and fold it behind the leaf on the bottom.

Now we have one side dull and one side shiny facing up.

Repeat

With each fold more petals appear. Here we are getting close to the first “layer” of petals. As you keep going more layers will form.
At some point you will get close to the end of your flex halves. When you have reached that point. FIRMLY Press down on the “flower”. Just pressing FIRMLY will hold everything in place.
