Netted flax
Title: Netted Flax
Directions:
1. Cut the flax leave at the point where the “stem” meets the leaf. The “stem” is the pretty hard and folded over.
2. Run the flax leave through a pasta machine with the spegetti attachment.
3. Spread the leaf gently and tape it onto the ground at the spread level you want. Let it dry. The leaf will maintain the shape it dries in. This will result in a flat leaf. If you want to get crazy you can wrap them around styrofoam balls or other things. But for your first time I think flat is best.
* the dyeing can be done before the leaf is run through the pasta machine or after. But must be done before it is dried. I do it after I run it through as I feel I get better dye adhesion.
Botainical Materials: New Zealand Flax, Flowers and other greens if you so desire.
