Spring 25 Flowers with Jen Syllabus
Spring 2025 Flowers with Jen
April 15 – Pave Design (A focus on Texture)
Difficulty: Easy
April 22 – Intertwining materials
Intertwining materials usually consist of a vine or other flexible thin material. We will incorporate flowers with our intertwined material.
Difficulty: Intertwining the vine or other materials will take some patience and fine motor skills.
April 29 – Leaves Only
Using only leaves create an arrangement. Leaves come in a variety of shapes, colors and textures. This is an opportunity to appreciate their splendor.
Difficulty: Easy
May 6 – Mother’s Day
Difficulty: Unknown at this time.
May 13 – Repeating Shapes
Repeating materials and shapes will give a more magnified view of how repeating elements can strengthen a design.
Difficulty: Engineering to hold the repeating shape material in place.
May 20 – Massed Expression
Mass a lot of times is expressed as a ball. But we are going to try and create a shape with our mass.
Difficulty: Creating a shape out of massed materials.
May 27 – Unusual Materials
Unusal materials are fun to incorporate. We will not repeat using egg cartons. Until I verify the material I want to use can be used the way I want, I am not going to specifiy it.
Difficulty: May be minimal engineering to hold our unusual materials in place.
June 3 – Graduating
I sometimes think of this is marching. Basically you go from 1 element (typically the same flower) in Short, Medium to tall. With space between each level.
Difficulty: Engineering of linear materials that will be graduating.
June 10 – 1 Material
Get to know whatever material you choose more intimately.
Difficulty: Engineering to accomplish whatever placement of materials you have been giving. Using only 1 material can be difficult due to a variety of factors.
June 17 – Juneteenth Theme
A design celebrating Juneteenth, because why not.
Difficulty: Unknown at this time.
