360 Guidelines

Here are a list of things to check:

Integrated Design:

• Are all the materials equally distributed?
  • No Rings
  • No bullseyes 
• Is there a variety of height?
  • Should not be the same height 
• Is there enough material for the vase?
• Don’t forget the value of green material. (Sometimes the “uglier” the better)

Blocking Note: When working with lots of smaller high value texture materials blocking is the best bet. It allows these materials to get the most bang for their buck, because grouping blocked materials gives the viewer a chance to appreciate the texture of each material.

Depending on the amount of material you don’t have to have all the same material grouped together in the design. You can more than 1 block of say carnations, there just have to be enough in each block to have enough volume to consider it a block.

Blocking – vertical:

• Is there an overall shape to the piece? 
• Each block should have it’s own shape.
• Remember to have a variety of height.
